Our pastor,  Paul E. Powell was born on July 30, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri.  He attended public schools in the city.  He received his college degrees at Southwest Baptist and William Jewell Colleges.

While at William Jewell he met Connie MacGray from Needham, Mass.  They were married in 1947.  Our pastor and his wife were married for 57 years prior to her death in 2004.  They have five sons, fourteen grandchildren, and three great grand- children.

He was ordained in 1943 while serving as pastor of the Bethpage Baptist Church.

Pastor Paul and his wife attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his B.D. degree.  He and his family remained in Texas serving three different churches for 17 years before returning to Missouri.  He was called to be pastor of the Kingshighway Baptist Church in 1982 and served until retirement in 1996.  During his retirement he served on the staff of the Third Baptist and as interim pastor of the Overland and Vandover Baptist Churches.  In 2003 he was asked to return to the church and has served our church since that time.

He has served as trustee of Hardin-Simmons University, on the Executive Board of the Missouri Baptist Convention, and on various committees of the Convention and St. Louis Metro Baptist Association.
