A Word From Pastor Paul
Here we go again! After becoming your Pastor nearly five years ago I presented a list of suggestions for Church growth. One of our finest members replied, Here we go again!’ Now we can repeat that once more: Here we go again!’
Just Imagine: 5 preaching congregations meeting in our building each week! Around 325 in worship services! Around 275 in Bible Study!
Thank You, Lord!
On May 6th the Pastor of the French Speaking Baptist Church attended our services and asked if they could use our facilities. We agreed and they began on May 13th with nearly fifty in attendance. Here we go again!’ Thank You, Lord!
The City of Refuge is being reorganized at K.B.C. Ron will be receiving some salary from the mission and will seek part-time employment elsewhere. This will enable him to put more time into the City of Refuge. We hope many of you will give extra toward Ron´s Salary. Please mark your gifts City of Refuge.’ They are planning a special Dedication Service on Thursday, June 21. I hope many of you will attend this special service.
This week I sent a letter to the Judge who is in charge of Ron´s supervision asking that she excuse him from further supervision. This will allow him to visit in prisons and in the homes of those who are on probation. Please pray the Judge will honor this request. We welcome Pastor Ron Boyer to our staff as a paid employee. Also please be in prayer for Ron and Ruby. They are currently visiting her family in Venezuela. Upon returning he will take on this new responsibility in our church.
June is going to be a really important month for all of us at Kingshighway. Two big events will take place during this month, and we will be gearing up for an even bigger event during the next month.
The first big event in June is our Sunday School Picnic that is scheduled for Saturday, June 9. We have the Turkish Pavilion in Tower Grove Park reserved for the entire day. We will try to get things under way at 10:00 in the morning, eat about 12:30 or 1:00 (whenever the burgers and hot dogs get done) and have games going from when we first get there till four or five o´clock. Two years ago we had well over 100 people there. This year we expect our biggest crowd ever.
This is the kind of event you can invite your neighbors, friends, and all your relatives to attend. Folks who might never come to church with you will come to a picnic in a park. When they get to know our people and find out we are not all geeks they might come to visit our church. Invite everyone you know and let´s see what God does.
The next big June event is our Summer Block Party! It will be the very next week, Saturday, June 16. It will be on the parking lot across from the Church. These events always draw a big crowd. Again you will find your friends and neighbors, even those who never go to church, will attend an event like this.
The Summer Block Party will feature live music from St. Louis recording artists 1000 Days. The band is currently finishing up a new CD to be released later this year. Also appearing will be Troy, MO band Committed, as well as Daniel Hernandez with his guitar and some compadres to add a Spanish flavor and bilingual message. It was earlier reported incorrectly that the KBC Praise Team would be on stage. Apologies for the confusion. Regardless, it will certainly be an exciting event.
Report from Prayer Chain
Mary Lou reports God is still answering prayer through our Prayer Chain. If you have a concern or want to put a person or a matter on the chain, please call Mary Lou Koons at 314-776-5569.
Vacation Bible School
Would you believe Bible School is just over a month away! It will be July 9-13 at 6:30 P.M. Someone has asked why we have had a note about VBS in every Newsletter since January, and we are really glad it was asked.
In the entire history of Baptists no program or activity has been responsible for winning more people to faith in Christ than has V.B.S. Although it was once just a ministry to kids, it was still responsible for many conversions because it reached kids before they were hardened and difficult to reach. Statistics show that children in elementary school are four times easier to reach than when in High School and ten times easier to reach than young adults 17-30.
Some have been surprised that more people have been won to Christ in VBS than in all the Revivals we have had put together. The Kid part of that story is not the whole story. In recent years VBS has been expanded to reach older youth and Adults. Adults are now being reached for Christ in large numbers - larger than any other program Baptists have. That´s why we think it is so important.
There are two more training sessions during June. On June 4 at 6:30 in the evening we have our next training session for workers, and on the last Saturday in June, June 30, we have our final session. We will meet that Saturday morning for breakfast at 8:30, have our final training session and then go through the decorations we have begged and borrowed that will be used on July 7 & 8 to decorate our various departments.
Pray as you have never prayed before that our largest school ever will be our most effective school ever, winning boys and girls and their parents to a living Faith in a Living Christ.
Another Church Supper
We Baptists do love to eat. This time it is on Wednesday evening. This very next Wednesday evening, June 6, the entire congregation is invited to join us at 5:30 for supper in Fellowship Hall. At 6:30 we will have a special prayer time with men in one group, ladies in another; a special group for children and another for youth. If we feel it is a good thing to do this summer we may do it a number of times while AWANA is having their summer break.
Please sign up and let the kitchen committee know what you will be bringing. The Church will be furnishing the entrée (meat) and families will be asked to bring a dish; either salad, vegetable or dessert. Please note what others are bringing and try to bring whatever will round out the meal.

Ladies Bible Study
The Bible Study, Jesus, the One and Only,’ is going quite well with approximately fifteen in attendance on a regular basis. The class uses a video presentation by Beth Moore to set the tone for each session and then through the use of a workbook and discussion led by Mary Hughes the class reacts to the Biblical material and discussion guide. It is really a productive study.
K.B.C. Does it Again
This past Sunday on a holiday weekend, we again had excellent attendance, both morning and evening. It was a bit unusual to have such good attendance on the Sunday before Memorial Day, but the evening service was really special. Rev. Sanon Frantz, Pastor of the French Speaking Baptist Church that meets in our building (the Haitian Congregation) was our guest speaker and his members supported him so well one whole side of our Sanctuary was filled. We are very grateful to have such gracious folks using a portion of our building.
